Flapjacks

Preparation and cooking time: 30 minutes
Makes 8 wedges

Just add sultanas to this recipe for a fruity flavour.

125g butter or cooking margarine
125g demerara sugar
5 tbsp golden syrup
225g Scott’s Old Fashioned Porage Oats
1tsp ground ginger

Preheat oven to 190C, 375F, Gas Mark 5. Grease a 20cm sandwich tin.
Melt butter in a large pan and stir in the sugar and syrup. Add the Scott’s Old Fashioned Porage Oats and ground ginger and mix well.
Using the back of a metal spoon press mixture evenly over the base of the tin and smooth over.
Bake for 20 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes in the tin, then score into 8 wedges.
Cool completely, turn out and break into wedges.

Cooking Guidelines
Hob – From Ambient. Mix 40g of oats with 195ml of milk (or cold water) in a saucepan and bring to the boil.
Simmer for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve with sugar or salt to taste.

* Meaning good things come in small packages. Or small(ish) bowls.; Microwave – From Ambient. If you’re pushed for time, then you can prepare Scott’s in the microwave (it’s probably best to try and make sure no one is watching)
Mix 40g of oats with 195ml of milk (or cold water) and stir.
Microwave your oats, uncovered, on High (minimum 800w, category E) for 2 1/2 minutes.
Remove with care as the bowl may be hot. (And you don’t want to drop your Scott’s.) Then enjoy.
